Why Interior Designers (Myself Included) Love Wallpaper

It’s no secret that I’m utterly captivated by the transformative power of paint, but I’m equally enamored with wallpaper. Now, if the word “wallpaper” sends shivers down your spine, it’s likely because you’ve either endured the trauma of removing it at some point or because it instantly evokes images of your grandparents’ home, adorned with floral wallpaper everywhere.

But, guess what? Wallpaper has undergone a remarkable evolution. You can now find virtually any print, pattern, and color combination imaginable. Moreover, it’s available at a diverse range of price points. Additionally, most manufacturers offer peel-and-stick options.

Pro Tip → Select an unexpected wallpaper that will spark conversations or opt for a wallpaper that serves as a focal point. And, of course, always obtain samples before finalizing your decision.

When it comes to selecting wallpaper, I recommend starting with a small space, such as a powder bath, entryway, toilet closet, or even the backs of built-in cabinets. However, if you’re ready to take the plunge and transform your entire space, consider adding wallpaper to the fifth wall—the ceiling (just ensure your ceiling is smooth, free from any imperfections like orange peel or popcorn, as wallpaper may not adhere well to such surfaces).
